Academic Quarter is a peer reviewed, online, open access journal with humanistic research. The aim of the journal is to meet the demand for critical research from the humanistic in an international context.
The journal covers current themes, and at the same time it will seek to create a high standard of good communication and publication of international research within the humanities.
Academic Quarter has as its mission to develop and extend the traditional understanding of research within the humanities. This understanding comprises disciplines such as literature, the media, anthropology, music, sociology, psychology, gender, political science, the visual and performing arts, philosophy, linguistics, religion, and history. The mission to develop research within the humanities is seen by Academic Quarter’s engagement in contemporary societal debates with an aim of having an impact on and of making a difference in the world. The humanities must take part in discussing, explaining and help solving the larger societal and cultural issues of our time. Interdisciplinarity and activism can be among the tools to reach this goal. Examples of this can be seen in earlier and recent issues such as “The challenges of art and humanities”, “Perspectives on the Anthropocene. New humanities I” and “The Aesthetics of Human Rights”.
Academic Quarter has as its aim the exchange of research among international scholars, and at the same time it allows anybody to follow this exchange of the most recent research through its online and unrestricted form of publication with no fees whatsoever.
The journal has a wide scope, but each issue concentrates on specific themes. Articles will be in Danish and English.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License: Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Authors can archive post-print (final draft post-refereeing) on personal websites or institutional repositories under these conditions:

Akademisk kvarter er et peer reviewed, online, open access-tidsskrift med humanistisk forskning. Tidsskriftets formål er at imødekomme efterspørgslen på kritisk forskning fra humaniora i en international sammenhæng.
Tidsskriftet dækker aktuelle temaer, og det vil samtidig søge at skabe en høj standard for god formidling og publicering af international forskning inden for humaniora.
Akademisk kvarter har som sin mission at udvikle og udvide den traditionelle forståelse af forskning inden for humaniora. Denne forståelse omfatter discipliner som litteratur, medier, antropologi, musik, sociologi, psykologi, køn, statskundskab, billed- og scenekunst, filosofi, lingvistik, religion og historie. Missionen om at udvikle forskning inden for humaniora ses af Akademisk kvarters engagement i nutidige samfundsdebatter med det formål at have indflydelse på og gøre en forskel i verden. Humaniora skal være med til at diskutere, forklare og hjælpe med at løse vor tids større samfunds- og kulturspørgsmål. Tværfaglighed og aktivisme kan være blandt redskaberne til at nå dette mål. Eksempler på dette kan ses i tidligere og nyere numre som “The challenges of art and humanities”, "Perspektiver på det antropocæne. Nye humaniora I" og "Menneskerettighedernes æstetik".
Akademisk kvarter varetager international udveksling af de nyeste humanistiske forskningsresultater blandt forskere. Samtidig giver vi via den åbne og online publikationsform alle interesserede mulighed for at læse med over skulderen.
Tidsskriftet favner bredt, men placerer de enkelte numre inden for bestemte temarammer.
Tidsskriftets forfattere beholder ophavsretten til deres artikler, og de giver tidsskriftet førsteret til udgivelse af artiklerne, samtidig med at artiklerne har licens under Creative Commons Attribution License: Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
